Kniese
to head SAP Labs India
Bangalore: SAP Labs has appointed Georg Kniese
as managing director of its Indian operations. Earlier
the joint managing director, Kniese has taken over his
new charge with effect from August 1.
SAP
Labs employs 2,700 professionals at its Bangalore campus
and is looking at increasing the strength to 3,000 soon.
Kniese
moved to SAP Labs India as joint managing director in
January 2005.
Prior
to SAP, he was with Boston Consulting Group in Zurich,
Switzerland having started off his career at the European
headquarters of Procter & Gamble in Geneva, Switzerland.

GM appointed at NTPC
Visakhapatnam: R. Venkateswaran has assumed charge
as general manager, NTPC Simhadri Thermal Power Project.
Before the assignment, he was the general manager of the
NTPC-SAIL Power Co at Rourkela. An engineering graduate,
he was involved in the construction and commissioning
of several thermal power plants in the country. Recently,
NTPC announced its decision to double the capacity of
NTPC Simhadri from the present 1,000 MWs.

Rami
Reddy to head unit of BHEL
Hyderabad: G.V. Rami Reddy, group general manager,
BHEL, has been appointed the new chief executive of the
BHEL's Ramachandrapuram unit, Hyderabad.
He
has taken over from C.P. Singh, executive director, who
has been transferred to Delhi on promotion as director
(E, R&D).
Prior
to the present appointment, Mr Rami Reddy was heading
the BHEL's Corporate Project Engineering Management Group.
He was also instrumental in executing the first desert
field unmanned power station control for the Hubara Site
project in Oman during 1998-2001. Mr Reddy joined the
BHEL as an engineer trainee 34 years ago.
He
would be heading the RC Puram unit, which has set a turnover
target of Rs3,001 crore for fiscal 2006-07, out of the
BHEL's overall target of Rs16,500 crore, the release added.

Virtusa
gets new director
Hyderabad: Virtusa Corporation has announced the
appointment of Rowland Moriarty to its board of directors.
He currently serves as chairman at Charles River Associates,
as well as chairman of the board at Wright Express Corporation.
He is also a director of Trammell Crow Company and Staples.
