Menon is new foreign secretary
New Delhi: India's High Commissioner to Pakistan, Shiv Shankar Menon has been appointed as the new Foreign Secretary succeeding Shyam Saran who will be Special Envoy for negotiations on the Indo-US nuclear agreement. A 1972-batch IFS officer, Menon will take charge of his new assignment on October 1. He supersedes a number of foreign service officials.

Anant Koppar may quit MphasiS
Bangalore: Anant Koppar, head of the technologies division of MphasiS is said to planning to leave the company. MphasiS, the mid-tier IT and BPO entity is now controlled by EDS.

Koppar is expected to remain with MphasiS till the end of this year and then move out to start a new venture of his own. The top management of MphasiS is aware of Koppar's decision.

Koppar currently heads the technologies division of MphasiS which contributes around 35 pc to the company's revenues. The remaining comes in from financial services and BPO.

Koppar is expected to start a new venture in the product space probably in the areas of enterprise mobility, healthcare and lifesciences.

Koppar entered the MphasiS fold after the company acquired his venture Kshema Technologies in 2004. Kshema Technologies was started by Koppar in 1997 and was acquired by MphasiS in stock-cum-cash deal worth $21 million.
