G.C. Srivastava is new director-general, CBDT, International Tax
New Delhi: G.C. Srivastava has been appointed as the new director-general, International Tax, Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT).

Srivastava, who was earlier chief commissioner of Income-Tax in Delhi, would also oversee issues relating to transfer pricing, a CBDT spokesperson confirmed.

He has taken charge from B.M.Singh, who has now been posted as a Chief Commissioner of Income-Tax in Delhi.

V.S. Jain takes over as Jindal Stainless MD
New Delhi: The former chairman of Steel Authority of India Ltd, V.S. Jain, has taken over as the managing director and CEO of Jindal Stainless Ltd, a Ratan Jindal concern. Jain had relinquished his responsiobilities at SAIL on July 31 this year.

Jindal Stainless is the largest stainless steel manufacturer in the country and is undergoing major expansions. Jain had earlier joined the company board on August 18.

Ron Sommer appointed to the TCS board as independent director
Mumbai: Tata Consultancy Services has appointed Dr Ron Sommer, former chairman of Deutsche Telekom, as an additional independent director.

A statement for TCS said that prior to joining Deutsche Telekom, Dr Sommer had spent 15 years (1980-1995) with Japan's Sony Corp managing its German, US and European operations.

"Ron Sommer's presence on the board of Tata Consultancy Services will help us create a strong, independent board with directors of a global stature and varied business experience," said S. Ramadorai, CEO and MD, at TCS. "Ron's experience and counsel on the board of directors will be valuable to the TCS leadership team as the company continues to grow globally and at a fast pace."

Dr Sommer's addition to the board of directors at TCS increases the number of independent directors to five. These include Harvard professor Clayton Christensen, former HSBC chief Aman Mehta, former senior advisor to the Prime Minister of India and Indian Ambassador to the US, Naresh Chandra and the head of GlaxoSmithKline, Asia, S. Thiagarajan.

The two executive directors of the company are Ratan Tata, chairman, and S. Ramadorai.

G.C. Daga joins IOC board
New Delhi: G.C. Daga has joined the Indian Oil board as its director (Marketing), said a release. Prior to joining Indian Oil, Mr Daga was Director (Finance) of Steel Authority of India Ltd (SAIL).

Prior to his two-year stint in SAIL, Mr Daga had handled key portfolios at Indian Oil such as international trade, finance, retail, direct consumer, LPG and aviation.

Jones Lang La Salle firms up India operations
New Delhi: Jones Lang LaSalle, a NYSE-listed real estate services firm on Tuesday has announced that it would consolidate and strengthen its India-based operations through a slew of new appointments.

Chris Hunt has been appointed regional director and head of West Asia for Integrated Facilities Management and Property Management Services; Sahel Pramendra will be India Head for Transaction Services; and Brendan Weier will be director, operations - Delivery, Project and Development Services.
