Videocon
chief, V.N. Dhoot receives ELCINA award
New Delhi: ELCINA Electronic Industry Association
of India has declared V.N. Dhoot, chairman, Videocon Industries
Ltd, as the "Electronics Man of the Year." The
award has been given to Dhoot in recognition of his contribution
to the globalisation of the electronics industry.
The
award was announced at the 31st ELCINA Awards for Excellence,
which was conducted along with the 2nd ELCOMP India 2006
exhibition and conference being held in the Capital.
Earlier, Vinod Sharma, president, ELCINA was re-elected
for a second term.

Senthil
Kumar is new creative chief for JWT Chennai
Chennai: Senthil Kumar will be the new creative
chief at JWT Chennai. Kumar was earlier associate vice-president
and creative director of JWT Mumbai.
Kumar
is India's first Cannes Grand Prix Runner Up and his work
on the Levi's Slim Jeans Campaign won a Gold Lion at Cannes
this year.
Kumar
has worked on campaigns for Levi's, Diamond Trading Corporation,
Smirnoff, Pepsi, Lipton, Spice Telecom, Kingfisher Beer,
Hindustan Petroleum, Times of India, Hungama Kids TV,
Unicef, Sri Lanka Tourism and a host of Unilever brands.
Kumar was also on the New York Festival's television and
cinema jury this year. So far he has won over 100 national
and international creative awards.
Prior
to JWT, Kumar has had stints with Trikaya Grey Advertising
in Bangalore and Colombo and Akshar Advertising in Bangalore,
according to a company press release.

Rashmi
Banga bags Exim Bank's research award
Coimbatore:
Dr Rashmi Banga, economist with the Unctad-India Programme,
has bagged the Exim Bank's International Economic Development
Research (IEDRA) Award 2005 for her doctoral dissertation
titled `The Nature, Pattern and Impact of Japanese and
US Foreign Direct Investments in Indian Manufacturing.'
The
award was announced by the chairman and managing director
of Exim Bank T.C. Venkat Subramanian in Mumbai. The award
includes a citation, and carries a prize of Rs1 lakh.

Devare, visiting Senior Research Fellow, Institute of
South-East Asian Studies of Singapore, gave away the 17th
IEDRA award to Dr Banga.
