Microsoft
launches Zune to take on iPod
Seattle: Microsoft has launched its Zune digital music
and video player that is expected to go on sale this Christmas
in competition with Apple Computer's iPod.
Zune
with a 3-inch screen and built-in FM tuner, offers a 30-gigabyte
hard drive, and is available in black, white and brown
colours. It allows users to wirelessly share music with
other owners, Microsoft said.
The
initial version of Zune, the first music-player hardware
designed by Microsoft, will be made by Tokyo-based Toshiba,
Microsoft said.
The
company did not reveal the price of Zune.
