Microsoft launches Zune to take on iPod
Seattle:
Microsoft has launched its Zune digital music and video player that is expected to go on sale this Christmas in competition with Apple Computer's iPod.

Zune with a 3-inch screen and built-in FM tuner, offers a 30-gigabyte hard drive, and is available in black, white and brown colours. It allows users to wirelessly share music with other owners, Microsoft said.

The initial version of Zune, the first music-player hardware designed by Microsoft, will be made by Tokyo-based Toshiba, Microsoft said.

The company did not reveal the price of Zune.
