Jerry Rao appointed V-P, EDS
Bangalore: Jerry Rao, the chief executive officer and managing director of MphasiS, has been appointed as the vice-president of Electronic Data Systems (EDS) and General Manager of the EDS' operations in India effective November 1.

In his new role Jerry Rao will spearhead EDS' business efforts in India and become the non-executive chairman of MphasiS. He will report directly to the EDS chairman. Rao will replace Stephen Heidt as the chairman of MphasiS. The latter will remain a director on the MphasiS board.

Deepak Patel, recently appointed as chief operating officer of Mphasis, has joined the board and will become the new managing director of MphasiS BFL effective on November 1.

Hotelier Lalit Suri passes away in London
New Delhi: Lalit Suri, the chairman of Bharat Hotels and MP, passed away in London early this morning after a heart attack. He was in the UK as part of the India business delegation attending the India-UK Business Summit.

The Bharat Hotels group has eight hotels operated under the Grand banner. The group also has interests in newspaper publication, automobiles, car air-conditioning systems, real estate and property development.
