Morgan
Stanley plans expansion
Mumbai: Morgan Stanley MF is planning to expand
its Indian operations and will include more equity and
fixed income schemes in its portfolio. At present Morgan
Stanley Investment Management (India), manages just one
scheme, Morgan Stanley Growth Fund, and is looking at
acquiring other such firms in India.
Morgan
Stanley has however dropped plans to acquire Standard
Chartered Mutual Fund in India.
When
it first entered India in 1994, Morgan Stanley was the
first overseas player in AMC business here. The closed-ended
MSGF, which announced an interim dividend of Rs2 per unit
for the fiscal ending March 31, 2007, has an AUM of Rs2,830
crore as of September 30, 2006.
