UK Trade and Investment selects Deveshwar as 'Businessperson of the year'
Kolkata: Yogi C Deveshwar, chairman of ITC, has been chosen 'Businessperson of the year 2006' by UK Trade and Investment, a British government organisation that supports overseas businesses.

Deveshwar was honoured by Prince Andrew, Duke of York, at the India Business Awards ceremony in Mumbai today, ITC said in a statement here.

The award acknowledges Deveshwar's significant role in promoting Indo-British business relations as he was a key figure behind the success of Tony Blair's EU-India summit in 2005 as the president of the Confederation of India Industry (CII).

Lodha takes B K Birla to court in defamation suit

ICICI Bank reshuffles senior management
Mumbai: ICICI Bank has reshuffled its senior managers after the retirement of its joint managing director Lalita Gupte. The bank has promoted V Vaidyanathan to the post of executive director while 11 general managers have been promoted to the posts of senior general managers.

The new SGMs are: Anup Bagchi, who will head international retail product group and private banking; KM Jayarao, head of credit risk management and credit mid-office; Kalpesh Kikani, head of corporate products and investment banking group; Mohit Batra, head of global project finance group; Prashant Purker, head of global principal investments and trading group and structural rate-risk management group; Rajeev Sabharwal, head of retail asset products group; Shilpa Kumar, head of global markets group and Vijay Chandok, head of small enterprises group.

The bank has also effected changes in its international banking operations which have been divided into three regions — Europe, Middle East and rest of Asia.

As part of this other SGMs who have been appointed are Nimesh Shah, to head Middle East and Africa, Suvek Nambiar, (head Asia) and Sonjoy Chatterjee, (head Europe, North America and Russia). The regional heads will report to Chanda Kochhar.

Sandeep Batra will move from ICICI Prudential Life Insurance to ICICI Bank as SGM to head compliance group. Chatterjee will also focus on a group of corporate clients, with significant international presence and/ or international investment plans. This will be identified by Ms Kochhar.

Among GMs- Madhivanan B, who was earlier in retail asset product group, will now head customer service and phone banking group; Maninder Juneja, earlier head of mortgages, will now head liabilities and Sachin Khandelwal, who used to head auto business, will now head cards business.

Vaidyanathan will continue to be responsible for retail banking and report to KV kamath, MD and CEO.

The bank has assigned Chanda Kochhar, deputy MD, responsibility for international banking.
