Gates tells Russians not to compete with India
Moscow: Bill Gates chief of Microsoft Corp has
warned Russian programmers against competing with their
Indian counterparts, whose labour costs are much lower
Yuri Ammosov, a top official of the ministry of economic
development and trade was quoted as saying in business
daily Vedomosti.
Bill
Gates was in Russia on Tuesday and held meetings with
the country's software developers and government officials
including President Vladimir Putin's likely heir, first
deputy prime minister Dmitry Medvedyev.
Gates
visit to Russia os to get information about the nation's
innovations in the field of science, education and economy
from original sources, according to the press secretary
of Moscow Microsoft.

Adidas
slashes 2007 profit forecast
Frankfurt: German sports goods firm Adidas has
slashed its 2007 earnings forecasts on due to higher investments
in its troubled US unit Reebok. Adidas which is the world's
second-largest sports goods company after Nike said its
net income growth in 2007 would stand at 15 per cent as
compared to 2006. It has previously forecast 20 per cent
growth.
Comparison
with last year is difficult because Adidas started consolidating
Reebok only this year. Quarterly sales rose by 53 per
cent to €2.949 billion, above the forecast of €2.877
billion. For 2006 Adidas' net income would stand around
€500 million.
