Telecom 2006 begins on Dec 14
New Delhi: A three-day telecom conference 'India
Telecom 2006' starts on December 14 and would be flagged
of by President of Indian APJ Abdul Kalam.
Over
200 domestic and international telecom companies are expected
to participate in the event which is being organised by
the Department of Telecommunications in association with
industry chamber FICCI and Telecom Equipment Manufacturers
Association (TEMA), a statement from the chamber said.

Govt
looks at coal prospecting in Africa, Indonesia & B'desh
New Delhi: The government has shortlisted Mozambique,
Zimbabwe, Indonesia and Bangladesh for acquiring coal
mines to bridge the domestic shortage, minister of state
for coal Dasari Narayan Rao said.
The
company has shortlisted Mozambique, Zimbabwe, Indonesia
and Bangladesh for acquiring coal mines.
The
minister said a total of 35 million tonnes of coal was
likely to be imported in the financial year ending March
2007 to meet domestic shortage.
