Venkitaramanan
resigns from SPIC board
Chennai: S Venkitaramanan, a former governor of
the Reserve Bank of India, has resigned from the board
of directors of Southern Petrochemical Industries Corporation
(SPIC) the company informed the stock exchanges on Wednesday.
He
has been associated with SPIC for nearly four decades,
right from the company's inception in late 1960s and as
Secretary, Industries Department, Government of Tamil
Nadu, he was instrumental in setting up SPIC as a joint
venture between the M A Chidambaram group and the Government
of Tamil Nadu.
Later,
during the mid-1970s, as the vice-chairman and president
of SPIC, he turned around the company. It is said that
he did this by importing fertilisers and selling them
in SPIC's brand name. No reasons were given for his resignation.

Saluja
appointed CEO at Ask Raymond
Mumbai: Rajesh Saluja has been appointed as chief
executive officer at Ask Raymond James to lead its financial
planning business that will be launched early 2007 for
catering to the HNI retail investors in India.
Saluja
was earlier with Standard Chartered Bank, where he was
the Business Head - Priority Banking & Deposits for
the wealth management business in India.

Narang
appointed CEO of Tulip
Mumbai: Network services provider Tulip IT Services
has appointed three top executives who were earlier in
Cisco India.
Sudhir Narang has joined Tulip as CEO. He was in Cisco
India as senior vice-president for India and SAARC countries.
Two
other officials from Cisco India Karan Bajwa and
Dinesh Verma, who were heading the government and service
provider businesses, respectively have also joined
Tulip.
Bajwa
will be president, sales and marketing in Tulip, while
Verma will be president, business development. Tulip gets
around 74 per cent of its revenues, from network equipment
like routers, switches etc, while Cisco is the biggest
company making these equipment.
Tulip
has been seeing an explosive growth for its VPN services
of late, where it provides last mile connectivity. Tulip's
network connects around 600 cities across the country
and it offers corporates a connectivity to their branch
and dealer network.
