Dr Choubey takes over as chairman, MD of GAIL
New Delhi: Dr U.D. Choubey has taken charge as chairman and managing director of GAIL (India). Before this Choubey was director (marketing), GAIL, a post he has held since May 2004. Dr Choubey succeeds Mohan R. Hingnikar, who held additional charge as CMD of GAIL since November last year after S.P. Rao, CMD and director (Projects), superannuated from service on October 31, 2006.

Dr Choubey joined GAIL in 1986, and has been with the marketing department since then.

N Srinath takes over as managing director of VSNL
Mumbai: N Srinath has taken charge of Videsh Sanchar Nigam (VSNL) as the managing director of the company. His term lasts for five years. Prior to the promotion, Srinath was the executive director of the telcom major.

Srinath was largely responsible for VSNL's acquisitions of TGN and Teleglobe, and for transforming the telecom major into an international company. He was also conferred with the 'Telecom Asia CEO of the Year' award by Telecom Asia.
