Investor
lawsuit filed against Dell
New York: A new investor lawsuit has been filed
against Dell Inc. accusing the company for improperly
accounting for millions of dollars in payments from partner
Intel Corp. The lawsuit accuses Dell of inflating profits
"by secretly receiving approximately $250 million
a quarter in likely illegal rebate kickbacks payments"
from Intel in return for an exclusive deal to purchase
Intel's microprocessors.
Intel
denying the accusations said some of the claims appear
to "rehash" similar complaints against it by
smaller rival Advanced Micro Devices Inc.
Dell
has been using Intel microprocessors in all of its computers
for many years. However, it began buying processors from
AMD last year.
