Reddy appointed chairman of the BIS Asian Consultative
Council
The board of directors of the Bank for International Settlements
(BIS) has announced the appointment of Dr Y.V. Reddy,
Reserve Bank of India Governor, as chairman of the BIS
Asian Consultative Council (ACC). He has been appointed
for a term of two years from March 2007 and succeeds Zhou
Xiaochuan, Governor of the People's Bank of China, as
Chairman of ACC. The ACC comprises the Governors of the
BIS member central banks in the Asia-Pacific region. The
BIS member central banks represented in the ACC are those
of Australia, China, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Japan,
Korea, Malaysia, New Zealand, the Philippines, Singapore
and Thailand.
