Warburg
Pincus appoints Leo Puri as MD
Mumbai: Leo Puri, a former executive of McKinsey
& Co., has been appointed managing director of U.S.
private equity firm Warburg Pincus. The latter is strengthening
its focus on India and feels that Puri's deep expertise
in financial services and broad India experience will
be of great value to the firm.
Puri
is a post-graduate in politics, philosophy and economics
from Oxford University and was a co-leader of the financial
services practice in Asia for McKinsey, Warburg said.
Puri will begin at Warburg's New York office in April,
and will be relocated to its Mumbai office later.
Warburg
has investments in firms such as Bharti Airtel Ltd, the
country's largest mobile phone firm, and back-office firm
WNS Holdings. It also has stakes in Kotak Mahindra Bank
and newspaper publisher Writers and Publishers Ltd., which
sells the Dainik Bhaskar and Divya Bhaskar.

Kirloskar is Maharashtra CII Chief
Mumbai: Kirloskar Oil Engines (KOEL) director Rahul
Kirloskar ahs been elected chairman of CII Maharashtra
State Council 2007-08 while Pradeep Bhargava , the managing
director of Newage Electrical India was elected vice-chairman,
a press release said.
Rahul
Kirloskar has been associated with the Kirloskar Group
of Companies for more than 19 years at senior levels in
different capacities, it said.
Bhargava
has been with the Central government and Public Sector
in Indian Space Research Organisation and Atomic Energy
Commission, Bharat Heavy Electrical India as corporate
planner, implementing diversification into Power Electronics.

Sudheer
Kuppam appointed MD of Intel Capital
New Delhi: Sudheer Kuppam has been appointed as
the managing director (India, Japan, Australasia and South-East
Asia regions) at Intel Capital, Intel's venture capital
arm.
Kuppam
would be based in Bangalore and report to Intel Capital's
president Arvind Sodhani, a company statement said here.
He
would be responsible for leading company's investment
strategies and expansion plans including placement of
the 250 million dollar Intel Capital India Technology
Fund.
Kuppam
was earlier the director of Intel Capital's flash memory
and semiconductor sector.
