Chief
of US aviation agency coming on India visit
Washington: The chief of the Federal Aviation Administration
of US is coming to India and is expected to sign an aviation
cooperation agreement next week.
FAA
Administrator Marion Blakey this is only the second such
pact the United States has with any country. The other
is with China.
Blakey
predicted India would benefit from expert US advice on
aviation regulation and facilities, and the United States
would learn from India's rapid installation of new technology
like satellite-based aircraft monitoring.
After
three days in India, she will travel Dubai for talks with
its aviation officials and air carriers.
She
noted that India has seen passenger growth of 25 percent
a year recently, and the Persian Gulf region has posted
double-digit passenger growth in 41 of the past 43 months.
