HLL reshuffles management committee
Mumbai: In a major reshuffle of its management committee Hindustan Unilever (HUL) has appointed Sanjay Dube, presently executive director - sales and customer development, as Chairman of Poland and Baltics, Unilever, with effect from June 1.

Sanjiv Kakkar, executive director - marketing & strategy - foods, has been appointed as executive director - sales and customer development, in place of Dube, while Shrijeet Mishra, V-P activation - Asia AMET, Unilever, based in Singapore, has been appointed as executive director - foods, in place of Kakkar, and has been given a place on the management committee.

Ashok Gupta, vice-president, legal, has been appointed executive director - legal, and will replace M.K. Sharma in the management committee.

Sharma, a who has been with HLL for more than 32 years, including 12 years as a director on the board, retires on May 31.

Leena Nair, VP HR, has been appointed executive director, HR, and will join the management committee.

The appointments are effective from June 1.

Dr Charat Ram is no more
New Delhi: Noted industrialist Dr Charat Ram is now no more, having passed away on Tuesday.

Dr Ram is known for having stewarded the Shriram Group to great heights. He was president of the FICCI in 1973-74 and also a known philanthropist.

Expressing deep shock, FICCI President Habil Khorakiwala described him as a visionary and an outstanding business leader. "Dr Ram was a beacon of light for businesspersons in India, one who was dedicated to the cause of both business and its responsibility towards society."

Stefan Groening appointed director at Geojit BNP
Kochi: Stefan Groening has been appointed director planning and control at Geojit BNP Paribas at its Corporate Office, in Kochi. He will be in charge of Compliance, Audit and Control, according to a press release.

Groening was earlier in the internal audit section of Cortal Consors, which is a 100 per cent subsidiary of BNP Paribas.

In March 2007, BNP Paribas took a 27.2 per cent stake in Geojit Financial Services Ltd.

Vinayak Purohit appointed executive director at Thomas Cook
Mumbai: Leading travel company Thomas Cook (India) has appointed Vinayak Purohit as executive director (Finance) and he will also join the board of the company.

Before joining Thomas Cook, Purohit was the chief financial officer of HT Media, Delhi.

A Bombay University graduate and a chartered accountant, Purohit has worked in organisations like, GE Countrywide Financial Services, Rediff.com India and BPL Mobile at various levels.
