GM chief Rick Wagoner visits India

Delhi: Rick Wagoner, chairman and chief executive
officer, General Motors Corporation, is on an a visit
to India for the launch of company''s launch of the mini
car Chevrolet Spark.
Wagoner''s visit is being seen as a relationship building
exercise with the government he is scheduled to
meet prime minister Dr Manmohan Singh, and senior government
officials and also build confidence among the Indian
consumers.
Wagoner will also review General Motor''s Indian operations and future plans.
Wagoner is visiting India after nine years since his first visit in 1998. According to analysts, his visit is part of GM''s worldwide strategy to revive its flagging auto sales.
Wagoner''s itinerary includes a visit to the company''s R&D and engineering centre in Bangalore on Wednesday.
He
would also meet industry associations such as the Society
of Indian Automobile Manufacturers, Confederation of Indian
Industry, Automotive Components Manufacturers Association
as well as the American Chamber of Commerce in India.
