BVRAAM Astra test-fired for the third time

Balasore: Indigenously developed beyond visual range air-to-air missile (BVRAAM) Astra was test fired from the Interim Test Range in Chandipur once again on Thursday, defence sources said. This is the missile's third test firing in the last five days.
According to sources, the BVRAAM was fired from a vertical position at around 11.30 am in the morning.
Developed by the Defence Research and Development Laboratory (DRDL), Hyderabad, Astra is an advanced missile capable of engaging targets over 80 km away.
According to sources, Thursday's test firing was aimed at studying the control and guidance system of the missile. They also said that there was a possibility of one more test firing of the missile.
