Boeing: Deliveries of 787 Dreamliner to AI will start this year
31 Jan 2011
New Delhi: Aerospace giant and commercial aircraft manufacturing major, Boeing, has confirmed it will deliver the first of its futuristic 787 Dreamliner aircraft to Air India this year. The announcement of the delivery schedule will be made at Bangalore in the second week of February.
According to Dinesh Keskar, president Boeing India, deliveries would commence this year with proper compensation for the delays. The formal announcement, he said, would be made at the AeroIndia 2011 show to be held in Bangalore in February.
Keskar pointed out the company had already announced deliveries for launch customer All Nippon Airways, which would commence in the third quarter of the year.
Keskar said he would soon meet AI officials to inform them about the delivery schedule.
If Boeing sticks to its latest schedule then the flag carrier may expect full delivery of its 787 orders by 2014.
The carrier expects these fuel-efficient aircraft to help it reduce costs of its long-haul operations.
