Air India, Jet Airways suspend Bangkok operations till Thursday

New Delhi: Air India and Jet Airways have announced suspension of operations to Bangkok till Thursday. The carriers had to divert four of their flights on Wednesday after anti-government protesters stormed the Suvarnabhumi International Airport disrupting all activity.
Air India's cancelled flights are IC-853 from Delhi, IC-693 from Mumbai and IC-737 from Chennai. Air India Express flight IX-922 from Kolkata to Chennai has also been cancelled as also the corresponding return flights from Bangkok, an airline spokesperson said.
Meanwhile, two Air India flights to Bangkok, one from Delhi (IC-853) and another from Mumbai (IC-693), were diverted this morning to Utapao airport with passengers being ferried to Bangkok by road. The return flights from Bangkok, IC-854 and IC-694 have taken off from Utapao and are expected to arrive at Delhi and Mumbai respectively tonight, according to an airline spokesman.
According to a Jet Airways spokesperson, flights 9W-064 and 9W-062 to Bangkok, were today diverted to Kolkata, from where they returned to their originating points in Delhi and Mumbai.
