Air India offers summer season discounts through Date Range Fare scheme
23 Apr 2011
Mumbai: In a bid to boost passenger load factors and also cash in on the holiday season, struggling state-owned carrier Air India (AI) is offering tickets at comparatively cheaper rates if booked three or five days in advance. The offer is made under a 'date range fare' scheme, which will be available on 141 domestic routes.
"This initiative, effective 20 April, is aimed at increasing travel on AI during the summer holidays and improving seat factor," Airline spokesperson said here today.
The 'date range fare' is being offered through two schemes namely Date Range 3 (D3) and Date Range 5 (D5).
There should be a minimum of three day gap between the date of booking and date of travel under the D3 scheme, while D5 requires tickets to be booked minimum of five days in advance.
"Our effort is to provide passengers with the most competitive prices while ensuring best customer service," the spokesperson added.
Air India's domestic passenger load factor shows a minimal increase - to 70.2 per cent in 2010-11 as compared to 69.9 per cent in 2009-10.
