Air India to expand in-flight menu on metro sectors

Air India, today announced that it will provide a wider variety in its in- flight catering on the domestic metro sectors on flights exceeding a 90-minute duration, in its forthcoming schedule from 1 April 2012.
"Passengers flying with the national carrier can now look forward to more variety in dining, be it breakfast, lunch / dinner or high tea," the nation al carrier said in a statement.
It said in the revised on-board catering service, the airline would offer a variety of menu to suit all types of palates, Indian and continental.
"The meals served on board the flights, will include a blend of cuisine from all regions," the statement said, adding the focus of the new meals will be taste, attractive presentation and health consciousness and due care was being taken to ensure that it is cooked and served in a manner that the freshness of the food is retained.
"Salads and desserts will include gourmet items. The choices for vegetarian and non-vegetarian meals will be available to passengers flying both in economy and business class .Frequent fliers in particular, will now be able to relish variety hot meals and tasty snacks on different days whenever they fly with the airline," the statement said.
Business class passengers with a special food requirement can also choose from any of the 23 special meals, which can be intimated through the travel agent while making reservation.
