IndiGo enters fare war with Rs1,389 base price as SpiceJet's Re1 offer ends today

IndiGo airlines has come up with an offer of Rs1,389 base fare on domestic routes triggering another round of fare war among carriers even as SpiceJet's Re1 fare offer is set to end today.
IndiGo on Thursday announced special fares for travel between July and September, but has not specified a deadline for booking tickets.
Fares range from Rs2,000 for the short routes to Rs3,000 for longer routes. A Chennai-Delhi ticket is priced at Rs3,000 while Chennai-Bangalore or Chennai- Coimbatore ticket will cost around Rs2,000.
Meanwhile the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has warned SpiceJet against undercutting although the sales of Re1 tickets continued unabated.
The airline has sent mails to its customers alerting them that the three-day sale will close at midnight on Thursday.
"The sale continues, and it's on until 23:59 pm today, for travel between 1 July 2014, and 28 March 2015, on domestic flights," said the statement.
SpiceJet said passengers can use its new network that allows same day return flight. The return options are available from Bangalore to Chennai, Delhi, Hyderabad and Mumbai; from Chennai to Bangalore, Delhi, Hyderabad, Kolkata and Mumbai; from Delhi to Bangalore, Chennai, Kolkata and Mumbai; from Hyderabad to Bangalore, Chennai, Delhi, Kolkata and Mumbai; from Kolkata to Bangalore, Chennai, Delhi, Hyderabad, and Mumbai; and from Mumbai to Bangalore, Chennai, Delhi, Hyderabad and Kolkata.
SpiceJet said it has added more flights between Delhi and Kolkata, Hyderabad and Mumbai, Kolkata and Hyderabad, Chennai and Kolkata, and Mumbai and Kolkata.
