Jet Airways launches direct Mumbai-Paris service
15 May 2014
Jet Airways, India's second-largest airline by passengers carried, has launched a direct flight between Mumbai and the Charles de Gaulle airport in Paris, its third destination in Europe.
The airline will operate an A330-200 plane on the route four times a week, offering passengers greater connectivity and seamless travel to Europe via the French capital.
From June 26 the airline will fly daily on the route.
Jet Airways has also signed a reciprocal code share with Air France for Mumbai-Paris route and 23 cities in Europe, the airline said in a release today.
''With the new direct flight and our recently expanded code share partnership, Jet Airways will now be able to offer its guests unmatched connectivity and seamless travel from India to Europe via Paris,'' Jet Airways senior vice-president, commercial, Gaurang Shetty, said.
''Our code share agreement with Air France, which the airline expanded recently, is another distinctive travel solution, as it will offer guests access to over 23 major cities across Europe,'' he said.
The expanded agreement provides for enhanced network connectivity to passengers to 12 major cities across Europe and the UK.
Code share is a commercial agreement between two or more airlines that share the same flight, with all partners able to sell seats on that flight.
As per the new expanded code share, both carriers will place their marketing codes on each other's flights on the Mumbai-Paris trunk route, the release said.
This code share is already open for sale for travel from May 25, the airline said.
