New Delhi: India's ministry for civil aviation is searching for candidates to fill in two vacant slots on its board of directors. Civil aviation minister, Vayalar Ravi, said the airline is also looking for suitable candidates for the posts of chief operating officer (COO) and chief training officer (CTO).
He indicates that he would be approaching the prime minister's office in the next week or so to settle on candidates.
The slot for independent directors fell vacant following the resignations of Anand G Mahindra , vice-chairman and managing director of the Mahindra Group, and Amit Mitra, secretary general of industry body Ficci.
While Mahindra stepped down from the Air India board last month citing conflict of interest, Mitra put in his papers earlier this month as he is contesting the assembly elections in West Bengal.
Both Mitra and Mahindra had moved onto the board of directors a year ago, along with chairman of Ambuja Realty Development Harsh Neotia and former chief of the Indian Air Force, air chief marshal, Fali Homi Major.
Ravi also said his ministry was looking for candidates for the post of chief executive officer of Air India Express.
