BMW M cars and BMW Individual debut in Indian markets

New Delhi: BMW India has announced the launch of BMW M Cars (BMW M3 Coupe, BMW M5 sedan and BMW M6 Convertible) and BMW Individual (BMW 7 Series Individual, BMW 6 Series Individual and BMW X5 4.8i) at the ongoing Auto Expo in New Delhi today.

BMW 650i at the New Delhi Auto Show According to a company press release, apart from the entire BMW range of cars the BMW M3 Coupe, the BMW 750Li Individual and the 650i BMW Individual are being showcased for customers who are looking for made-to-measure solutions and are making tougher demands on the company in terms of distinction, design and function.
 
Speaking on the occasion Peter Kronschnabi, president of BMW India said, "The BMW cars are a successful synthesis of unobtrusive and yet powerful appearance combined with a high performance unit-a sports car featuring Formula 1 technology and at the same time offering premium comfort for everyday use. He added that, "In terms of driving dynamics; the BMW cars always set standards in its segment."

The BMW Individual will provide 7 Series and 6 Series customers with a selection of distinctive paints and interior treatments allowing them to individualise their vehicles to reflect their own tastes and personalities.

The newly launched cars don't come easy on the pocket though. The ex-showroom prices (New Delhi) of the cars come like this. The BMW M3 Coupe comes for a cool Rs 75 lakh, while the BMW M5 sedan is priced upwards of Rs1 crore at Rs1,10150,000 while the BMW M6 Coupe comes for Rs1,24, 90, 000. The convertibles are no less steep and the BMW M6 Convertible comes for Rs1,31, 90, 000 and the BMW X5 4.8i come for Rs79, 00,000. 

The company is targeting to sell 2,000 cars in 2008 having sold 1387 vehicles in 2007(the target for 2007 being 1000). The company has increased capacity at its Chennai plant from 1700 units to 3000 units per year working on a single shift. It is also implementing a plan to develop a dealer organisation across all metros of the country. The company has nine dealers at present and hoping to achieve higher growth in metros the dealer network is being expanded to support its plans.
 
BMW's dealer expansion plan, advanced by a year, includes appointing 12 dealers covering all metros by the end of 2008. The company will establish the next BMW dealers in Cochin, Ahmedabad and Kolkata.
