10 Jan 2008

British Airways will start new services to the southern Indian city of Hyderabad from 27 October this year, with at least five flights a week.

Hyderabad is the capital of the state of Andhra Pradesh, and also an important IT and manufacturing hub. Interestingly, the city, which is India's sixth largest, will also be the airline's sixth destination to India.

BA's other destinations are the metros of Bangalore, Chennai, Delhi, Kolkata and Mumbai.

The flights will depart from London Heathrow.

"India is our largest market outside North America and, with the Hyderabad route, we will fly there (India) 48 times each week," commented Robert Boyle, British Airways' commercial director.
