Emirates ramping up India operations

14 May 2008

Dubai: Emirates is all set to ramp-up their India operations with services to Kozhikode, New Delhi and Mumbai already announced, or on the cards.

Apart from announcing the launch of their six-weekly non-stop services to Kozhikode, starting 1 July, 2008, the airline will also be ramping up its Delhi services. According to Salem Obaidalla, senior vice president, commercial operations, West Asia and Indian Ocean, the carrier will be increasing its Delhi connections to 10 flights a week. This will make the service a double daily.

He also said that the airline would consider increasing frequency to Mumbai through four additional flights.

Kozhikode will become the third city in Kerala to be served with non-stop connections by Emirates from Dubai, after Kochi and Thiruvananthapuram.

The airline will initially operate its Boeing 777-200 and Airbus A330-200 aircraft, offering over 4,000 business and economy class seats and close to 200 tonnes of cargo capacity per week in both directions.

According to Obaidalla, the carrier will also launch chauffeur driven service for the benefit of its First and Business class passengers in Mumbai by end of May or sometime in June.
