Hyderabad court issues non-bailable warrant against Vijay Mallya

A Hyderabad court has ordered non-bailable warrant against beleaguered Kingfisher Airlines's owner Vijay Mallya on charges of bouncing cheques.

The decision comes following the failure of Kingfisher Airlines to honour the Rs10.3 crore cheque issued to GMR International Airport.

The ailing carrier had extended its lockout till the next weekend, after it failed to convince its striking staffers, protesting delay in salaries, to return to work.

According to airline sources, the airline management, in an internal mail, said due to operational reasons, all flights across its network would be cancelled till 20 October.

The mail comes a day following Kingfisher CEO Sanjay Aggarwal's appeal to all employees, striking over non-payment of salaries for seven months, to return to work to resume flight operations soon. The employees had been insisting that the salaries be paid first before they resumed duty.

With the cancellation of all its flights after the declaration of the lockout on 4 October, aviation regulator DGCA asked liquor baron Vijay Mallya-owned Kingfisher to stop selling tickets following reports that it had started accepting bookings last week before ending its lockout.
