IndiGo, one of India's most competitive low-fare airlines has won the CNBC AWAAZ Travel Award '09 being adjudged the best low cost carrier.

According to the airline, Synovate's was a most exhaustive pan-India study conducted across 12 cities with over thousands of respondents voting for their choice of travel services and destinations.

Aditya Ghosh, president, IndiGo, said, ''To me, this award is a true recognition of how IndiGo has redefined the airline business in India. Independent and unbiased public recognition is always great encouragement for the entire team at IndiGo … especially, when it is backed by a name such as CNBC AWAAZ and a survey that is as extensive as this one. At IndiGo, we try and keep things simple and deliver on what we promise to our customers."

Ghosh further added, "It has been our constant endeavour to live up to and exceed our passenger's expectations and continue making their journey a hassle free experience.
