Kingfisher pilots on strike again, five flights cancelled

A section of Kingfisher Airlines' pilots today resorted to strike over non-payment of salary and other dues for the past five months, leading to the cancellation of five flights.

According to airline officials, the pilots who did not report to work included those who operate the 70-seater ATR turboprop aircraft over short-haul routes that connect regional airports.

In Delhi, the carrier cancelled two flights each to Dharamsala and Dehradun and one to Shimla, since this morning.

However, according to officials, operations of the carrier's A320 aircraft were as per schedule.

This comes as the second instance in last eight days of the airline's pilots agitating over non-payment of their dues.

"A section of the airline's pilots, mainly operating ATRs, did not report for duty on the salary payment issue. Owing to the agitation, the airline has cancelled five flights as we could not get pilots to operate the aircraft," the officials told media.
