Lufthansa picks up Europe's Best Airline award

28 Aug 2008

Lufthansa, German flag carrier and Europe's largest airline in terms of passengers carried, has beaten 59 other carriers to be named the best airline in Europe at the annual World Airline Awards organised by Skytrax, the world's leading air transport research organisation.

For this year's awards, in excess of 15 million passengers were surveyed by Skytrax over an eleven month period.

Respondents rated all airlines operating in Europe on categories such as on-board products and cabin crews, as well as the quality of ground crews.

Lufthansa's speedy and efficient check-in service was praised by those polled, alongside the friendly approach of its staff. Equally, passengers lauded the comfortable cabins and excellent in-flight amenities such as catering, entertainment and customer service.

Skytrax specialises in global airline and airport customer surveys. It is known for its World Airline Awards, where they survey more people than anyone else, and the results are consistently awaited by the travel industry every year.
