Lufthansa to take on 4,300 staff in 2008

Frankfurt: German carrier, Deutsche Lufthansa, plans to hire almost 4,300 new employees in Germany this year even as it expands its fleet and extends its global network.

According to an airline statement, the fresh hiring will include 2,000 flight attendants and up to 360 pilots. Lufthansa also said that it would have added almost 10,000 staff over three years. The group currently employs more than 105,000 people, including around 65,000 in Germany.

"Lufthansa is staying on the growth path. We are enlarging our fleet and our route network," said Lufthansa chief executive, Wolfgang Mayrhuber, in the statement.
