Qatar Airways Cargo has launched a new freighter route, providing non-stop services from its operational hub of Doha to Zaragoza in northern Spain, according to a report by Reuters.  An Airbus A300-600 has been deployed on the route, and the airline plans to capitalise on operations on the important commercial and manufacturing base of Zaragoza.

Industries in and around Zaragoza province include textiles, agriculture, footwear, automobiles and pharmaceuticals. The flight will return from Zaragoza, stopping in Dubai en-route, thereby enhancing  Qatar Airways' freighter services to the emirate to three times a week.

The freighter arm of Doha-based Qatar Airways, Qatar Airways Cargo presently has a freighter network spanning 18 global destinations, including Algiers, Tunis, Amsterdam, Bahrain, Chennai, Colombo, Dhaka, Dubai, Frankfurt, Istanbul, Karachi, Khartoum, Lahore, Luxembourg, Milan and Nairobi.

Qatar Airways CEO Akbar Al Baker said that the growth in cargo transported by the company comes from the increased number of routes flown, and the increased frequency to destinations. He said Qatar Air Cargo would expand its route further, while adding more cities to a larger fleet.
