Singapore Airlines might increase flights from India on account of higher traffic

New Delhi: With traffic between India and Singapore growing by almost 25 per cent over the last year, Singapore Airlines is planning to increase the number of flights from the country, according to company sources.

Singapore Airlines is looking to expand its operations by increasing flights from sectors such as Bangalore, which originates impressive volumes of traffic. However, the airline's plans are subject to government regulations, and the slots it has. It is also reported to be looking at adding more destinations within India.

The expansion is said to be in line with international airlines seeking out destinations with growing traffic, and India is supposed to be one of the growing sectors. Moreover, sources indicate that the airline has consistently had good load factors in operations from places like Delhi, which could be another reason for the move.
At a time when most airlines across the world are reeling from the high price of oil, and are looking to prune operations, Singapore Airlines seems to be looking keenly at niches it can serve better, and increase operations in sectors where it can garner more traffic.
