SpiceJet launches Rs499 limited fare offer on domestic flights

01 Sep 2014

SpiceJet on Monday launched yet another limited period special fare scheme offering domestic passengers tickets at prices as low as Rs499 on its network.

Bookings for the tickets under the three-day offer, which opened on Monday, is open till Wednesday and the tickets are valid for between 16 January and 24 October  2015, SpiceJet said in a release.

SpiceJet, India's second-largest airline by market share, said one-way fares include fuel surcharge but exclude applicable statutory taxes and fees.

A routine Mumbai-Delhi flight on Spicejet for an adult costs Rs11,108, which includes statutory taxes, fuel surcharge and fees. The base fare is Rs9,549.

Kaneswaran Avili, chief commercial officer of SpiceJet, said the sale will allow customers to enjoy low fares by planning their journey and holidays in advance.

The sale offer is applicable on all direct, via and connecting flights on SpiceJet's domestic network. The airline operates more than 340 daily flights to 49 destinations- 41 Indian and eight international cities.

''While the number of travellers opting for air travel during holidays has increased over the years, with the introduction of Early Bird sale, this number will only grow further,'' Avili said.

''This will also allow an average Indian customer to plan for more than the typical one holiday during the year at never before rates,'' he added.

The Kalanithi Maran-promoted budget airline had, last week, announced a similar discount scheme offering passengers fares starting at Rs1,888 across its domestic destinations. The offer was a limited discount on booking till 27 August valid for travel between 25 September 2014 and 15 January 2015.
