SpiceJet tickets on sale at Rs888, AirAsia at Rs899

SpiceJet is back with yet another discount offer. The Gurgaon-based low-cost carrier is selling all-inclusive tickets from Rs888 onward on domestic routes as part of its festival sale offer.

SpiceJet's four-day sale starts today and will be open till midnight of 7 October. The travel period covered is from 8 November 2016, to 13 April 2017.

The Rs888 tickets are available for routes such as Bengaluru-Kochi, Delhi-Dehradun, and Chennai-Bengaluru, SpiceJet said.

A check on SpiceJet's website showed that advance tickets on Delhi-Mumbai route in December was priced at around Rs2,200 as compared to the current level of Rs5,650.

"The offer with an extended travel period will allow flyers to make maximum use of the discounted prices by planning their trips well in advance," SpiceJet said in a statement.

SpiceJet did not disclose the number of seats offered under the festival sale.

SpiceJet's festive sale offer also encompasses overseas routes, with fares starting from Rs3699 (all-inclusive) for Chennai-Colombo route, for example, the airline said.

Discount offers from airlines have spurred a strong growth in domestic travel. The domestic air travel demand during the January-August period of this year surged 23 per cent to 644.68 lakh fliers.

SpiceJet's rival AirAsia India has also announced a year-end sale, offering tickets from all-inclusive Rs 899.

According to AirAsia India, the offer ends on 16 October and is applicable on travel between 4 October 2016, and 27 April 2017.
