Dubai: Qatar Airways has confirmed a $13.5 billion order for Boeing 787 Dreamliners and 777 aircraft, including five additional orders for the freighter version of the 777.

The long-expected but unconfirmed deal for 27 777s and 30 787s, with options for 35 more, was finally formalised at the Dubai Air Show yesterday afternoon.

The firm orders are worth $13.5 billion and all the aircraft will be powered by GE engines.

The 787 deal comprises 30 firm orders for the 787-8 model for delivery from mid-2010, plus 30 options, powered by GEnx engines. The airline has the option to switch to the larger -9 and proposed -10 variant.
