Eurocopter sets up Indian subsidiary

The world's largest helicopter manufacturer, Eurocopter, today inaugurated its new Indian subsidiary, which has been tasked with expanding commercial presence in the country.

The Indiaan arm, Eurocopter India Pvt Ltd, is Eurocopter's 25th global subsidiary and the 10th in Asia.

Headquartered in New Delhi, the company says it will expand its commercial, industrial and services / support presence in the country by establishing an engineering centre alongside its existing facility in Bangalore and a new commercial office in Mumbai. 

''The Indian helicopter industry has great potential for expansion, given the country's expanding economy, its size and challenging terrain, as well as the industrial potential,'' said Eurocopter India CEO Marie-Agnès Veve.

Veve added that  Eurocopter was the world's first major helicopter manufacturer to establish a subsidiary in India.

Eurocopter currently has 23 civil and government customers currently operating its helicopters in India, catering to offshore oil and gas drilling, VIP travel and corporate and passenger transportation.
