Industry veteran Nick White joins Air Deccan as deputy chief operating officer (technical)

Bangalore: Air Deccan, India's fastest growing and largest low cost carrier has appointed Nick White as deputy chief operating officer (technical). Nick White comes with over 30 years of experience in the aviation industry.

White began his career with Britannia Airways, a UK-based airline in 1975 as an engineer and went on to become the engineering and maintenance director for the same airline. After Britannia Airways was re-branded as Thomsonfly, a low cost carrier a few years back, White was the key figure in the re-organization of the airline from a full service carrier to a low cost model. He was responsible for engineering and maintenance of their entire fleet operating from 25 airports in UK to 86 overseas destinations and his last appointment with Thomsonfly was director, operations.

Having acquired an extensive management background in maintenance and technical operations, he also has experience in supply chain management, logistics and purchasing. In his current position he would be responsible for maintaining fleet reliability, managing aircraft performance and supervising flight operations. He will assume responsibility for the direct management and administration of all aircraft maintenance activities.
