Jet Airways' Brussels operations to include 5-star hotel venture

New Delhi: Jet Airways involvement with Belgium is getting deeper, and warmer, for just after selecting Brussels airport as its international hub, the airline is now all set to start a hospitality venture in the country.

Jet has acquired 15 acres near the Brussels airport where it now proposes to build a 500-room five-star deluxe hotel. The venture would mainly target Jet passengers transiting through its base in Brussels, as well as airline crew. It would also have a catering kitchen that would serve all Jet flights originating from Belgium and London.

According to airline sources, the venture would come up in association with a leading foreign chain of hotels. But care would be taken, sources said, to see that the hotel reflects Indian culture. According to sources, this would help in achieving Jet's dream of establishing the airline as a truly Indian brand abroad.

Airline sources said that the Belgium government is supportive of Jet's move to build the hotel.
