Moscow: Russia's flagship airline, Aeroflot, said Wednesday it had signed a contract with European aviation giant, Airbus, to buy 22 A350 passenger planes. The worth of the deal was not disclosed, however.

"The planes will be delivered between 2014 and 2017," the Russian airline said after the deal was signed at Le Bourget, Paris.

Earlier, on Monday, Russia's S7 Airlines (formerly Sibir Airlines) signed a contract with Airbus for 25 new A320 medium-haul passenger planes, worth more than $1.6 billion at list prices.

A350 jets can fly between 270 and 350 passengers over a distance of up to 15,000 kilometers (8,100 nautical miles).

Meanwhile, also on Wednesday, Russia's Ural Airlines said it had signed a contract with Airbus for the purchase of five A320 passenger planes worth $365 million.

The Yekaterinburg-based airline, which operates scheduled and charter domestic and international flights, currently leases two A320 aircraft. The bulk of its fleet, however, is saddled with outdated Tu-154 passenger aircraft.

Airbus A320 is a medium-haul airliner with a passenger capacity of up to 120 people and an average flight range of about 3,000 miles.

After the signing, Airbus executives expressed the hope that Ural Airlines would become a reliable customer for the company and the new purchases would allow the Russian carrier to expand its international destinations.
