Diversified business group RPG Enterprises turns publisher with launch of Open

Open, a general interest magazine from Open Media Network, a 100-per cent subsidiary of the R P Goenka-controlled diversified business group RPG Enterprises, will launch the group into publishing.

With Ceat tyres as its flagship, RPG Enterprises has business interests in plantations and media.
Priced at Rs30, Open is scheduled to hit the stands on 3 April.

Former managing managing editor, Outlook and Outlook Money (earlier Intelligent Investor) has as its editor Sandipan Deb, who put in his papers at the Express group as the editor of The Financial Express, to take charge of  Open.

The magazine will be available in 12 cities – Delhi, Chennai, Bengaluru, Kolkata, Mumbai, Hyderabad, Chandigarh, Ahmedabad, Lucknow, Jaipur, Kochi and Pune – at select bookstores, which are frequented by the TG.

Open will be targeted at mwn and woment around 32 years from SEC A1, with a monthly household income of Rs2 lakh, and hold senior managerial positions, drive C segment cars, wear branded apparel, use high-end phones or Blackberrys and travel abroad at least once a year.
 
The creative account for Open is being handled by admen Freddy Birdy and Naved Akhtar's agency Shop, while the media account is being managed by Zenith Optimedia.

Open has planned a 360-degree communication strategy, which includes outdoor in Delhi, Mumbai and Bengaluru, multiplexes and the Internet but no television.

Open's size will be more than an inch wider than the standard A4 size of most of the magazines. The magazine will be available at five-star hotel lobbies, airport lounges, premium bookstores, hypermarkets and café shops.
