Mahendra Singh Dhoni sets new benchmark, signs Rs200 crore endorsement deal

13 Jul 2010

Indian captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni has signed an Rs200-crore endorsement deal with Rhiti Sports Management and Mindscapes One.

The three-year deal takes him past Sachin Tendulkar, the prolific Team India batsman, who is a favourite brand endorsement figure.

Tendulkar had signed a three-year deal with sports management agency Iconix worth Rs180 crore in 2006.

The talent management company will take care of Dhoni's endorsements, brand associations, patents and digital rights, images, visibility on social networking sites and merchandise.

Management firms IMG, Percept Group, PMG and World Sport Group were also vying to rope in the Indian skipper.

Rhiti Sports also manages the portfolios of off-spinner Harbhajan Singh and fast bowler R P Singh.
