11 Dec 2008

TDI has become the largest media handler in the country, after winning the exclusive media rights to the Goa International Airport for five years. The Delhi-based outdoor major in transit advertising will be able to sell inventory options both inside and outside the airport. The other contenders were for the rights wereLaqshya Media, Times OOH, Adlabs, Luminill, Sandeep Publicity and Peacock Media.

The contract will be effective by the end of December. By then, TDI will conduct a detailed survey of the locations where advertisement displays can be put up for maximum impact.

TDI has a presence at 14 airports across North, South and West India, including at Jammu, Amritsar, Chennai, Thiruvananthapuram, Tirupati, Vadodara, Pune and Ahmedabad.

Vikas Bhambri, vice-president, sales and marketing, TDI International, says, "We will take extra care in terms of the design of our displays. Lighting will be done using normal translites and we will use some new lighting techniques as well. There are times when one brand wants to advertise different products from its portfolio. We will provide advertisement displays with multiple viewing and moving scrollers for this purpose."

Bhambri added the Goa airport is well organized making it an ideal media space. It receives around 75 per cent of India's international tourists, so brands can be sure of plenty of eyeballs. Telecom and banking are two sectors which will benefit from using the airport for ads, he says.
