Harvard Business Publishing (HBP), the highly regarded publisher of premier management content for academics, students, and professionals has established a wholly-owned subsidiary in India, to handle sales, marketing, and publicity for books published by Harvard Business Press from July 2009 onwards.

HBP publishes the Harvard Business Review South Asia (with identical editorial content and release timing as the US edition) through a license arrangement with the India Today Group.   Harvard Business Press books are presently distributed through McGraw Hill Education in the region

With the opening of its headquarters in Mumbai, HBPI will establish and enhance the company's partnerships in the region to identify and publish the best sources of local content, extend the India-editions programme for Harvard Business Press books, grow the reach of Harvard Business Review South Asia, and place additional focus on partnering with the region's leading business schools and corporations to deliver leadership and management development content and programs.

HBPI will initially localise marketing, sales and pricing for the Indian market. In coming months, the company will also broaden its local editorial focus with great emphasis on sourcing new ideas and authors that are particularly relevant to an Indian audience and that also provide invaluable insight to business leaders outside the region.

Underscoring India's growing influence on the world economic and management scene, its contributions to management thinking and its unique strengths and needs for management learning, David Wan, CEO, Harvard Business Publishing said, "The particular needs of India's developing managers and established leaders present a unique opportunity for HBPI.  Indian companies are pursuing global ambitions and competing at the highest levels of the international business environment. Harvard Business Publishing is ideally positioned to work closely with Indian companies, managers and academia seeking knowledge and ideas to fuel their quest for growth."

Speaking about his team's objectives in India, Vinay Hebbar, Managing Director, Harvard Business Publishing India said, "HBP stands out in the marketplace because of the unique and valuable content. We will develop teams to work with all three of the market segments we serve – individual managers, business schools, and companies – to bring international ideas to India, as well as to take Indian management ideas and practices to the world.
