Consumer price inflation for agricultural and rural labourers down in July

Consumer price inflation rate based on the all-India consumer price index for agricultural and rural labourers (CPI-AL) and (CPI-RL) declined to 11.02 per cent and 11.24 per cent, respectively, in July from 13.02 per cent for both the series in June.

The respective rates of consumer price inflation for the two series were 12.90 per cent and 12.67 per cent, respectively, in July 2009.

Consumer price inflation based on the all-India consumer price index numbers for agricultural and rural labourers (Base: 1986-87=100) increased 7 points each to 554 points for both the series in July 2010.

The variations in the index differed from state to state. In the case of agricultural labourers, it recorded an increase between 2 and 15 points in 19 states while it decreased by 2 points in one state.

Haryana with 617 points topped the index table whereas Himachal Pradesh with the index level of 475 points stood at the bottom.

In the case of rural labourers, the index recorded an increase between 3 and 14 points in 19 states and decreased by 1 point in one state.
