India’s core sector industrial production up 9.4% in July

Core sector industrial production in the country, based on the index of eight core sector industries increased by 9.4 per cent in Jly 2021 compared to the index for July 2020, provisional data released by the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade, showed.
Production of the eight core sector industries comprising coal, natural gas, refinery products, fertilizers, steel, cement and electricity, increased by 21.2 per cent during April-July 2021-22 compared to the corresponding period of the previous fiscal.
Final growth rate of index of eight core sector industries for April 2021 now stands revised to 62.6 per cent from its provisional level 56.1 per cent.
Among core sector industries, production of coal, which has a weight of 10.33 per cent in the index, ) increased by 18.7 per cent in July 2021 overJuly 2020, wile cumulative coal production increased by 10.5 per cent during April-July 2021-22 over corresponding period of the previous year.
Production of crude oil (weight of 8.98 per cent in the index) declined by 3.2 per cent in July 2021 over July, 2020 while cumulative production of crude oil declined by 3.4 per cent during April-July 2021-22 over the corresponding period of previous year.
Production of natural gas (weight of 6.88 per cent in index) increased by 18.9 per cent in July 2021 over July 2020. Cumulative production of natural gas during April-July 2021-22 increased by 21.0 per cent over the corresponding period of the previous year.
Petroleum refinery production (weight of 28.04 per cent in the index) increased by 6.7 per cent in July 2021 over July 2020. Cumulative production increased by 13.1 per cent during April-July 2021-22 over the corresponding period of the previous year.
Fertilizer production (weight of 2.63 per cent in index) increased by 0.5 per cent in July 2021 over July 2020 while its cumulative production decreased by 1.1 per cent during April-July 2021-22 over the corresponding period of the previous year.
Steel production (weight of 17.92 per cent) increased by 9.3 per cent in July, 2021 over July 2020 while cumulative steel production increased by 59.4 per cent during April-July 2021-22 over the corresponding period of the previous year.
Cement production (weight of 5.37 per cent in index) increased by 21.8 per cent in July 2021 over July 2020 while cumulative cement production increased by 45.6 per cent during April-July 2021-22 over the corresponding period of the previous year.
Electricity generation (weight of 19.85 per cent in the index) increased by 9.0 per cent in July 2021 over July 2020 while cumulative electricity generation increased by 14.6 per cent during April-July 2021-22.
