India's per capita income seen at Rs33,540

Per capita income of the country in real terms (at 2004-05 prices) is likely to reach Rs33,540 in the current financial year (2009-10) - a growth of 5.4 per cent against 5.0 per cent in the previous year - estimates provided by the Central Statistical Organisation (CSO) showed.

Quick estimates by the CSO for the year 2008-09 had projected the country's per capita income at Rs31,821.

Net national income (NNI) at factor cost, also known as national income (at 2004-05 prices), is likely to reach Rs39,24,183 crore during 2009-10, as against the previous year's quick estimate of Rs36,72,192 crore.

In terms of growth rates, the national income is expected to rise 6.9 per cent during 2009-10, in comparison with the growth rate of 6.4 per cent in 2008-09, CSO said.

Net national income (NNI) at factor cost at current prices is expected to reach Rs51,18,594 crore during 2009-10, compared with Rs46,32,305 crore during 2008-09, showing a rise of 10.5 per cent.

Per capita income at current prices during 2009-10 is estimated at Rs43,749, compared with Rs40,141 during 2008-09, showing a rise of 9.0 per cent.
